OVERPRICED & FORGETTABLE AT SPAGO, SINGAPORE

As with any restaurant at Marina Bay Sands you’re paying extra for location – especially when you hit the rooftop. Add into this Wolfgang Puck’s celebrity status & you really are paying top dollar. Spago sits right in the middle of this costly rooftop real estate, next to the iconic infinity pool. It has to be said, the views are exceptional – once you’ve looked past the swarms of tourists all taking selfies in the pool. We kicked things off well with some good starters, including pumpkin agnolotti & an innovative heirloom tomato salad with miso. However the mains were really disappointing given their price tag. I went for their signature Veal Chop that was lacking any sides or freshness to cut through what was a very fatty piece of meat. Charlie had the Laksa which was fairly good, with well cooked fish & mussels but over spiced & pungent. Given its impressive location & celebrity chef status we were expecting more from the cooking overall & given the bill we left a little disappointed
